Is food bought on the street and eaten from plastic forks while precariously balanced just inherently more delicious? Sometimes I think so. I had the pleasure of trying out some tastes from the Philippines at the night market recently and I thought it was just great. Even the swirling mass of humanity and the persistent hornets didn't impact my eating pleasure. It didn't look like anything out of the ordinary, but the pork, spring rolls and noodles all had their own distinctive flavour combinations. I've had just about every other Asian cuisine out there, but Philippine flavours were new to me. Whatever sweet/hot/sticky/spicy substance the barbecued pork was coated in was just heavenly.
