It was a perfect day!
Adeline may not officially turn one until Tuesday, but she certainly partied in style today. It was amazing and wonderful to see so many of our friends, neighbours and family all together in one place, enjoying the sunshine, eating some food, watching the little ones play and sending sweet birthday wishes to our girl! Adeline had a great time and she really loved being right in there with all the kids - at one point she was in a big squirmy puppy pile in the middle of the yard with two big boys and their toddler sister and she was grinning and loving it and wanting more! She got some really lovely presents which she and her Daddy played with for a long time after the party was over.
And of course there was cake...
At first Adeline was a little apprehensive about it. She patted it a few times, but wouldn't eat any until we got her a fork. Once she got a taste for it though it was all good - she ate every bite of her cake and then tried to eat the plate too.
Then she asked for more!
We told her she would have to wait until Tuesday when we'll be having a little family birthday celebration. That will be celebration number 2. Then next weekend she'll be having a visit from her cousin who turned one last week and there will be some celebrating to be done then too!
And look! On her head! An actual craft project completed by me! A post-baby craft project! I have a couple more things in the works but one is barely started and the other is a present for someone who reads the blog, so I can't let you see it until it's been gifted. I found this amazing pattern for a felt crown and I knew if I did nothing else that Adeline just had to have one for her birthday! She must have known how much I liked it, because she kept it on her head for the whole party!
After all her guests had gone home and Adeline had woken up from a long, sweet, nap she finally got a chance to really play with her present from her Nana - a ride on/walk behind toy. Before today Adeline had only taken a few steps while holding onto our hands before she would drop to the ground to crawl, but I think Adeline's crawling days are now officially numbered. You can check out the video to see how our big girl enjoyed her new wheels!
