Sorry things have been so quiet. Adeline had a ROUGH transition from Christmas holidays and she and I had a hard week while we got back into our usual routine and now I'm really sick. I thought it was sort of a flu thing, but I ended up at the doctor, where my pee sample was declared as dirty as a damp corner in a crack house (okay, so she said it all in nice medical-ese, but I knew what she was saying). So I'm SICK (no gory details required - I already made you read about my pee), but hopefully I'll be better soon. Until then, I'm borrowing this idea from a blogging friend who borrowed it from another blogger. It's just such a good idea to look back and pick my ten favourite photos of Adeline from the year. Maybe they're the most beautiful or maybe they just remind me of what our girl was like at that time or remind me of a fun family memory... Its hard to choose, but here they are!
Adeline in her pink silk ao dai eating Banh Chung off my chopsticks and after each taste using her old sign language to sign "more" since she had too much delicious food in her mouth to talk. Tet is such a wonderful celebration and I'm glad to have an opportunity to share it with my daughter. And I just love her eyes in this photo. Gorgeous!
Here's Adeline waking up in her crib. So pretty in the morning light and she just about always wakes up happy. To be honest we still struggle with sleep issues and spend far too much of our life trying to figure out the magic combination of factors that will help Adeline stay happy and sleeping in her bed all night long and until a decent time in the morning. Someday...someday...
This picture is just so natural and happy. We were just playing together in the playroom on a sunny spring afternoon when I snapped this one.
Many of my best memories from 2011 happened on our seaside holiday in June. It was all just so perfect - long walks on the beach, sandcastles, cooking supper on the fire, playing in the awesome playground and at the water park, ice cream cones... So many firsts for Adeline and such a wonderful holiday. I love the almost-evening picture of Adeline exploring the beach and Adeline had SO!MUCH!FUN! at the water park that I just had to include a picture from there. Adeline has NO fear of the water.
This picture was taken on July 27th and I think it's just such a beautiful picture of a beautiful girl on the day we celebrate that she was born. I think I can see a little of the older Adeline in this picture.
In July and August we get invited to a lot of birthday parties and we really began to see Adeline's outgoing, fearless and friendly personality emerge this year. Here she is with a bunch of big kids she doesn't know having a fabulous time in the bouncy castle.
This is what Adeline looks like when she's laughing really hard, which is a lot of the time, because she's a girl who loves to laugh! She cracks herself up all the time and she makes us laugh every single day.
Every part of Halloween was fun this year, from getting our pumpkins at the patch to Adeline's intense love of trick or treating. She was the cutest little pirate EVER!
For a long time Adeline decided she was done with baths and only wanted showers, but once she rediscovered the bathtub and the fun of bubbles she was asking to have a bath all the time. She has so much fun in the tub and she's such a goofball. I love it!
Okay, ten wasn't NEARLY enough pictures. There are still so many favourites left out!
All the happiness, the loving spirits are pouring out from these pictures of your little girl, I certainly can see some gleams of the older Adeline's expressions in a couple of the pictures.

Ten was hard for me, too! But it sure was fun to go through the year's photos and pick. The photo of Adeline on the beach is one of my favourites... it just looks so peaceful and calm. What a fun year your little family had and there's so much to look forward to in 2012!
