Sorry it's been so long since I've posted. Adeline is going through an I-shall-never-sleep-again-and-you-can't-make-me phase which is leaving me so tired I could cry some days. She is waking up every hour or two in the night and even though she settles quickly back into sleep, I don't, and I'm often only asleep a few minutes before she's up again. Then during the day she is tired but manic and refuses to sleep more than twenty minutes morning and afternoon. I know it's related to her teething and is likely a sign of her growing attachment to us (she wants to make sure we're always there and doesn't want to be separated from us even to sleep) so I'm sure that it will pass and she will get back to being a good sleeper again, right? Right?
So. Yeah. Zombie Mama.
Anyway. Enough about that. I thought I'd write tonight about Adeline's new accessory. I'm sure some of the sharper eyes in the crowd have already spotted it in some of her pictures.
Our occupational therapist at the burn clinic at the hospital confirmed that the scars on Adeline's left hand were thickening, growing and changing colour and with the plastic surgeon they decided that it was time to try to intervene. Asian skin is unfortunately at higher risk for poor outcomes of scarring and often the scar will start to grow on it's own and go beyond even the boundaries of the injury and be thick, ropey and dark. This is what we're trying to avoid, so for up to a year Adeline will be wearing the world's tiniest pressure glove over top of some very sticky silicone patches and we will be doing scar massage several times a day, all to try and have the best outcome we can. Our occupational therapist modified the glove to fit her tiny hand and give her as much movement as possible. Adeline doesn't seem to mind the glove at all and it doesn't slow her down a bit which is good because she needs to wear it all day every day and only takes it off to have a bath. The only thing she won't be doing is any super messy self-feeding as although the gloves are washable, they can't just be thrown out if they get stained and horrible looking. The glove isn't even close to cute, but it's necessary and I barely notice it any more. I just thought I should explain, since I'm sure some of you noticed it in the pictures.
Oh - and the I'm-ready-for-Bollywood combo of a hot pink dress with red tights was totally David's doing. I never would have chosen it and it sort of made my eyes hurt at first, but after awhile I really came to appreciate it and I would probably put that outfit on her again. So thanks, David - you made me rethink "matching".
Daddy dressing baby, always an interesting outcome!!!! David did well though.
Yes, you will sleep again. Try Hylands Homeopathic teething tablets, they REALLY helped Annie.

Poor tired Mama, poor teething Adeline. I feel for you all. My little boy and I have been through all that before and we can assure you that it will all be well eventually. :)
I'm praying for the best possible outcome for her hands. The pressure glove will help quite a bit to promote good healing. I know it's not the best looking accessory in the world, but it's great that Adeline doesn't mind it. Maybe you can dress it up a little with a fabric flower or two? :)

P.S. I love the colour combo -- I just love bright colours on babies, even if they do clash just a smidge! Hehe. Kudos to David on a job well done!

I certainly would like to see picture of fully fashion dressed Adeline in hot pink, and red tights, Daddy is developing his fashion styles, by practicing on his little girl. At least she will stand out in the crownd, easy to spot. Hoping for the complete healing on her little hand soon.
