We traveled out of town in July so that Adeline could spend a week at Orchestra Camp. I don't know if we'll do it again, but she loved it and it was a good experience for her and a nice holiday for all of us. Mornings Adeline would work hard and then in the afternoon we would beat the heat in the hotel pool. She learned a lot and had a few performance opportunities including a huge concert at the end. Orchestra work is very different than solo playing, so I think it really stretched her brain and made her think in new ways, which is always a good thing! Of course because Adeline is such a social kid, she had made lots of friends by the first day and knew absolutely everyone by the third. She was the second youngest by a few months and once again she was probably the most advanced player.
I'll have to add some video soon. Her orchestra pieces included "Oh Canada", Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", Bryan Adams "Summer of '69" and "Les Cinq Jumelles" (a fiddle tune). All Canadian music this time to celebrate our country's sesquicentennial. So happy to get to use that word a lot this summer. One of my favourites.
